1. Nintendo ruins Smash Bros. by placing Reggie fils-amie in
the game.
If gamers don’t know this yet, there is a petition going
around the internet for gamers to sign that Nintendo should put the President
and COO of Nintendo of America Reggie fils-amie as a playable character in the
upcoming Smash Bros. game for Wii U and 3ds.
Although it is somewhat comical to hear something like this actually
happening, if Masahiro Sakurai (creator of Smash Bros.) is convinced enough to
do this it would tarnish the legacy of Smash Bros. and bringing it to the
expectations the original smash bros. initially received. It’s already a stretch that the Wii Fit
trainer is in the game but what would Reggie’s move set be; throwing gamecubes
at opponents, head-butting soccer balls just like he did during E3 2007, and
above all else what’s his final smash going to be, calling in a Godzilla like
creature with Shigeru Miyamoto’s face on it?
No thanks putting in Reggie would just waste a roster spot for somebody
like a Pac-Man or a Waluigi, or any other first/third party character looking
to make a splash. What would be next
Hideo Kojima as the next third party character?
Point is this cannot and should not happen but you never know.
2. The Steam machine produces horrible sales numbers
If there is one major thing gamers are waiting for it is
Valve’s steam machine. Steam has taken
the gaming industry by storm producing a great way to play awesome third party
titles at an affordable price. So what
does Valve decide to do, they make a system to accommodate the PC gamers and
put all their steam games right on the system.
This is where in lies the problem; they are making a home console for
their PC gamers. Now I understand they
are trying to bring more gamers into steam by doing this but if the typical PC gamer
has a good enough system to run steam, why would they spend more money on a
home console that potentially could run worse than their computers do. Also I’m sure gamers use their television
screens for steam already, so adding the steam box would not do much for those
gamers. Although it sounds like a good
idea, Valve could be wasting their time with this spending unnecessary money
that could be used to further improve the Valve system itself.
3. Halo gets pushed back to 2015
If there is one thing that irritates gamers the most it’s
when a game gets pushed back to a later release date. This can be documented as recently as Watch
Dogs which was scheduled to release this past holiday but was pushed back to
well who knows when. Watch Dogs might
not be the only game getting pushed back though as Halo could be the next game
that we must wait longer for. Although
it hasn’t been actually confirmed for a 2014 release yet, it has been highly
speculated that it will be released this year.
However the only thing gamers have seen from the next Halo installment
is the trailer of Master Chief walking through the desert staring into the eyes
of a huge forerunner ship. Chances are
there will be some sort of footage (hopefully gameplay footage) of Chief and
where he will be in the next part of this new trilogy, but due to being in a
new generation of consoles and Chief being Xbox’s “Mario”, it wouldn’t surprise
me if Halo gets a 2014 release date but then gets pushed back to 2015 in order
to make this next Halo the best one yet.
4. The Vita gets discontinued
Now I know this is a long shot and I’m not trying to be a Sony
basher but let’s be honest, the PS Vita has not gotten the sales numbers it was
hoping it would get. Yes Sales numbers
have gone up since the release of the PS4 due to the integration of the two
systems together, but it really just looks like Sony is stealing another idea
that Nintendo has already come up with (the first one being the wiimote and PS
move). I understand that Sony developed
something where it would work as a 3ds and Wii U Gamepad all in one, but the
major problem is that the Vita does not have a great set of games to back it
up. Me personally I believe if the Vita
wants to compete with the 3ds it is going to have to get an exclusive series
all to itself like Pokémon with the 3ds.
Even though Sony has decided to bundle the Vita’s with the Playstation
4’s now, if the Vita games themselves do not start selling to the consumer,
then you will very quickly see those PS4 with Vita bundles disappear and Vita
will just be dust in the wind.
5. Fallout 4 will officially be confirmed
As said before Bethesda has had the major share of the rumor mill throughout the gaming world and very specifically it has been about Fallout 4. Now we’ve heard all the talk about how Bethesda put their trademark on some pictures and that the pictures represent a post apocalyptic Boston area and all that Jazz, however Bethesda has not once confirmed or released any type of statement saying that they are working on the next installment of Fallout 4, especially after just releasing Elder Scrolls online a lot of attention is focused on that right now. However rest easy Fallout fans because I believe that Bethesda is gearing up for the major announcement of Fallout 4 not just sometime this year but it could be very soon. In fact there have been rumors going around that the confirmation will take place at PAX East this year in of all places Boston, oh the irony. If Fallout 4 does get confirmed this year you can be sure that it is going to be the biggest and most stunning looking Fallout to date and it will only take Bethesda to even greater heights.
