Pokémon X & Y

Pokémon X and Y for the Nintendo 3DS is the next installment in the Pokémon franchise and will be introducing a total of 69 new Pokémon for the 6th generation. Like every other Pokémon game before it, the game follows a linear storyline as events occur in a fixed order. Also like its predecessors it stars a young teenager with a dream of becoming the best Pokémon trainer in the region, the main goal in the game is to gather all 8 gym badges and eventually challenge the elite 4. The game takes place in the region of Kalos and the player gets to choose from Chespin, Fennekin or Froakie as their starter Pokémon and later in the game the player gets to choose Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle.

So far the game looks exactly like all other Pokémon games only with new Pokémon, but this game is much more than that. For the very first time in the series Pokémon is presented in full 3D and with the use of the thumb stick on the 3DS will allow players to move in every direction, not just up, down, left, and right. Aside from the full 3D x and y is also introducing a brand new Pokémon type, the Fairy type, which is something that hasn’t been done since gold and silver with the introduction of the Dark and Steel types. The game also introduces sky battles which only flying Pokémon can participate in and horde encounters in which the player will have to battle multiple wild Pokémon at once. Another new feature in Pokémon x and y is the mega evolution. Mega evolution allows certain Pokémon to temporarily evolve, with the help of specific items past their final form to gain even greater strength.
For these reasons Pokémon X and Y is the greatest thing to happen to Pokémon since its creation so if you were undecided on it I highly recommend picking this up as it will deliver a brand new experience to an old classic game.
