Ever since Bethesda released The Elder Scrolls III:
Morrowind, they have been developing some of the greatest games to date.
Morrowind’s richness in visuals landed it several RPG of the year awards and
one game of the year award. Once Bethesda released Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
it was evident that the company was striving to be the best. Released on a different
engine and a new console, it became a universal success due to its breath
taking graphics, 400 hours of extensive gameplay, the accuracy of the
artificial intelligence, and schedule driven non playable characters. The Elder
Scrolls IV’s graphics and details were years ahead of its time winning several
game of the year awards in the process.
Even games from this year do not match the beauty that Oblivion
produced.
Bethesda then released Fallout 3 which is set in post
apocalyptic Washington D.C. Bethesda’s recreation of some of the monuments in
D.C was phenomenal. They paid very close attention to its graphics, realism,
free-roaming, and detail in every inch of the game. Game Rankings gave the game
an average of roughly 91.40% for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. Just like Bethesda’s
predecessors, Fallout 3 won a good amount of awards, including game of the year
and RPG of the year.
Finally the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was released and just
like its previous releases, Bethesda did not miss a single detail in its broad
map. The large quantity of plant life
and animal life, as well as its day/night cycle, season changes and real life
weather and climate changes made Skyrim one of the best games of this
generation.
With rumors of Fallout 4’s release, one can only wonder what
Bethesda is planning for us. The voice actor of the legendary ThreeDog remarked
“Back
from voicing top-secret game!! Only I, the developers of the game and US
Military Industrial Complex have details! Smile!”
If in fact ThreeDog was referring to the development of
Fallout 4, this tells us that Bethesda is closely collaborating with US
military for possible reinforcements of realistic sound effects for its weapons
and vehicles, as well as visual automation and real world mechanics for said
weapons and vehicles.
With a record like Bethesda’s, it is clear that they will not miss a
single detail in Fallout 4. They could possibly recreate an entire map of the United
States, compliment it with the post apocalyptic destruction of the fallout
series, and accent the game’s mood with musical classics from the 1930s, 1940s,
and 1950s. It is within Bethesda’s grasp to recreate entire cities without
missing a single detail. With that in mind, as well as the clear moves made by
Bethesda to deliver the best sound effects and realistic physics, there is no
doubt that Fallout 4 could possibly be the greatest game of the next
generation.
